Description of Surrounding Area...The historic town of Port Maria is one of the most scenic areas on the north coast of Jamaica. With a river and mangrove morass, Pagee beach is a natural area to swim, a great place to cool out and drink a cold red stripe at the thatch seaside bars. Watch as local fishermen return their catch of the day. Seafood can be purchased right on the beach.

In the middle of the bay is Cabrita Island, once owned by the famous pirate Blackbeard. Next door to Santa Maria stand some of the Caribbean's best preserved Spanish iron cannons which were used to protect Port Maria Bay back in the time of Spanish-English occupation for control of the Island.

The town boasts 14 religious denominations and has many beautiful stone churches dating back several centuries.

Rising from the St. Mary coast culminates the highest point on the island, Blue Mountain Peak at 7,402 feet.

Nearby is Ocho Rios a major cruise ship port that has...free shopping, nightclubs, restaurants, water sports, golf, Dunns River Falls and lots of Reggae music.

Directions...Villa Santa Maria located near Port Maria is along the north coast road 17 miles east of Ocho Rios. Before you reach Port Maria, you will pass the hotel Casa Maria and cross over a small bridge. Drive 50 yards past bridge and turn right where road forks on Rectory Street. proceed up the hill and Santa Maris is located just over the top on the left.

Walk ins are welcome based on room availability.
